The Betfair secret ’s the professionals use.
Trading in its most basic form involves betting on an outcome at price x and then laying (betting against) that outcome when the price contracts in order to lock in a guaranteed profit.
If you expect the price on a particular outcome to drift (ie increase in price), you would lay that outcome and then back it at a bigger price.
As you can probable see from the two simplistic examples above, the key to successful betfair trading is to be able to Predict which way the price on an outcome is going to move
This article will show you some of the betfair secrets & trading strategies that will enable you to predict price movements accurately.
Betfair Secret 1) - Follow the Trends
This method is very simple & involves noting the steamers (price is contracting) & Drifters (price is rising) on sites such as oddschecker.
If you were trading on a horse race, you could check oddschecker at 10.00 a.m (30 minutes after the prices have been released by the bookmakers). You would then check the Betfair market information (important!) to see if the price is moving the same way & if so, you can place your bet.
This would give you plenty of time to wait for the price movement you want & place your lay bet.
Betfair Secret 2) - Follow the money
This method involves finding the race that you want to trade on and looking at the back and lay boxes on Betfair.
There are 3 of each boxes in view. You would add up the money in the 3 blue back boxes and do the same with the 3 pink lay boxes.
You would then need to compare the back and lay amounts to decide which way the price is going to go.
For example, if there is £1000 available in the back boxes and £100,000 available in the lay boxes, the price is likely to contract because there are far more people queuing up to back the horse than people wanting to lay it.
