Become A Dedicated Affiliate Marketer And Forget The Hype!

I will be the first to admit that it’s hard to not get caught up in the hype surrounding affiliate marketing. It is probably the most believable get rich quick scheme there is today. But as many people who get into the business based solely on the sales page of some savvy marketer soon learn, affiliate marketing takes just as much work as any other job. The main differences between this business and your regular 9 to 5’s is that you can work from the comfort of your own home and the earning potential is completely up to you. Do the job right, put in a lot of hard work, and try not to cut corners then that 6 figure income will never be out of reach.

The problems happen when people base everything they know about affiliate marketing on some 50-page guide that they bought for $89 from some marketer who claims that by following his guide they will be able to bring in more than $10,000 a week. I am not standing on my soap box saying that the marketer is lying, I am simply stating that they often fail to stress to the customer that it’s not going to happening this week or next week, or any week this year. It can happen to anyone who works hard at it, but just like any job it will take time and a great deal of experience to bring in $10,000 a week. So that’s why these guides work not as a means to become a millionaire overnight, but as a way to continually educate yourself so that some day people will be reading your book. And when it comes time to sell your book or guide, what would you say to get people to buy it…”I use these exact techniques to make $10,000 week and you can too!!!”. Now this isn’t a lie either, you just forgot to talk about how long it took you to get to that point.

I have been buying these guides for a couple years now, and I am not even close to making $10,000 a week, but you know what that’s just fine by me. I use affiliate marketing as a means of supplemental income, mainly because I love my regular job and have no reason to leave it. But I have learned so much about affiliate marketing in the last couple of years that I don’t feel like I wasted a single penny on any of my e-guides. Some were a bit frustrating as they seemed to repeat what the other guy was saying just in different words, but honestly it doesn’t matter because just like anything you are trying to learn, you have to repeat it several times before it really sets in.

My only real problem with the way that affiliate marketing has been going these days is the fact that so many newbies are basing their entire campaigns on a single, “revolutionary” technique that they read in one of these guides. They don’t work within the entire realm of affiliate marketing, probably because their impatient and it takes too much work. So they bet everything on this one technique and when it doesn’t work or it costs them more than they wanted then they jump ship. Not from just their promotions, but from affiliate marketing altogether. This is somewhat distressing, because had they taken the time to learn the basics and used them in conjunction with these new techniques then would probably have a pocket full of cash right now. Affiliate marketing is a legitimate money making opportunity on the internet, but you won’t get rich overnight. It takes ambition, dedication, time, a little bit of hard work, and believe it or not the willingness to fail, because even the multi-millionaire marketing gurus make a bad decision from time to time.
