Marketing with PPC (pay-per-click) is without doubt one of the best ways to earn on the Internet. Yet many people find it hard to achieve success at PPC. Are you one of them?
If success has so far eluded you, it could be for a number of possible reasons. Look at this checklist to make sure you are doing everything you should be.
- Are you finding the right keywords? This is one of the most crucial elements for success at PPC. Use a good keyword tool to find low competition keywords. Plus if they are low search volume they will be cheaper, and the fact that a keyword has a low search count doesn’t mean it won’t do well in sales. You are much better to use focussed keywords that get fewer but targeted clicks, than to be at the top for popular keywords and get thousands of untargeted clicks. That would cost you a huge amount of money and get you few sales.
- Are you doing proper keyword matching? Remember to keep your keywords highly specific and put them in square brackets, to make sure that your ad will only show when people search on that exact phrase.
- Are you setting your budget right? Don’t be afraid of setting a high daily budget. It’s easy to be shocked at Google’s recommended budget and think you can’t afford it. But remember Google’s recommendation is a maximum and you wouldn’t normally pay anywhere near that amount. You don’t want to set your budget too low, or your ads won’t appear once the daily budget is reached.
- Are you paying attention to your ads? Your ads are crucial to success at PPC. Make sure the headline of your ad contains the main keyword for that adgroup. Also make sure the first line of the body copy trumpets the main benefit of your product or service.
- Are you tracking your campaigns? Whatever you do, don’t just set up a few campaigns, leave them there and hope for the best. You are liable to get a nasty shock when you get your next credit card bill. Keep a close eye on what’s doing well and what isn’t, remove what isn’t succeeding and keep tweaking everything for maximum success.
Remember, success at PPC doesn’t come overnight. Study this checklist until you are sure you are getting all these points right – and success will certainly come.
