Mixing Passion With Your 60 Second Commercial Creates An Unbeatable Combination!

One of the consistent givens of any networking is having an effective 30 or 60 commercial or description of who you are, who you work for and what you do. There are a ton words, articles and chapters describing what you should be saying and how you should be saying it during your commercial.

The bottom line is that you know it’s a winner when the person you’re talking to says, “Oh really, tell me more.” You’ve created the hook where they are interested in continuing the conversation.

But there is another hook that should be considered and that’s your passion.

Everyone is passionate about something in their work. Well, hopefully you are. If there is no passion or excitement about what you are doing that’s another article! And yes, there are parts of your job that you may not be passionate about.. paperwork may come to mind. But you are in the business you are in for a reason, and there is something about it that you enjoy doing and hopefully are passionate about.

So let’s capture that and put it in to your 30/60 second commercial so people can hear that and are attracted to what you are saying. That doesn’t mean you tell people that you are “excited” about what you are doing, just talk to people about the things that do excite you and the passion will come out.

Here’s why. When we talk, we are transmitting 3 ways.

Amazingly enough, our words are only 7% of how people are registering what we are telling them. People are actually picking up (albeit mostly sub-consciously) much more from our Tone (38%) and Body Language (55%), that’s 93% other than what we are saying!

A good example of this is listening to someone that you think is not being honest with you. They are saying the right words, but you still think they are attempting to pull one over on you. You are probably at that time, picking up something in their tone of voice or in their body language that is telling you they are being less than straight with you.

Now think about when you (or someone else you are observing) get excited about something. You hear the change of tone in their voice; their body language becomes more animated and open. You start responding to that and start getting excited with them.

And so it is with passion. Being passionate about something doesn’t mean you have to drone on and on. But if you can speak succinctly about what you do and what you are passionate about, it is going to show in the tone of your voice and your body language.

And those people, the very people that you want to do business with are going to respond to that. They are going to respond positively. Let’s face it, doesn’t everybody want to do business with someone that is passionate about what they do?

Passion. It has a place in your business, in your career. Find a way to appropriately express it in your 30/60 second commercial and people will want to know you and what you do much more. So be passionate. It will come thru load and clear.
